Effect of Normal Human Serum on the Bactericidal Activity of Antibiotics against Vibrio vulnificus

Abstract

|
To investigate the interaction of normal human serum with ampicillin(AP), chloramphenicol(CP) and tetracycline(TC), which are reported as bactericidal against Vibrio vulnificus, combined bactericidal activities of AP, CP, and TC with norman serum against serum-resistant V. vulnificus C7184 strain were tested. All the three antibiotics tested showed synergism with normal human serum. Among the three antibiotics AP resulted in the highest degree of synergy, and TC, the lowest.
